The Vale Housing Association’s art and craft competition, reaches a climax on Thursday 10th March when the grand final takes place at the Vale and Downland Museum in Wantage. The competition, which has seen 40 people enter 105 pieces of work, started in February and was open to both tenants of the Association and other local residents. Four heats were held in Abingdon, Botley, Faringdon and Wantage and two pieces of work were selected to go through to the final from each heat (three pieces were selected in Abingdon due to a tie). Bill Fuller, a scheme manager for the Association, trustee of the museum and one of the judges for the heats says, The standard of entries was very impressive and the variety of different skills and techniques used was amazing.
The final will be judged by Ken Messer, a local artist from Chilton, at 2.00pm on 10th March and the shortlisted entries will be on display from 7th – 12th March in the museum’s Upper Gallery and members of the public are welcome to go and see the work.
