One of the Vale Housing Association’s newest developments in Abingdon, Oxfordshire has been praised in an awards ceremony organised by the Chartered Institute of Building. Robin Close, a development of five bungalows for supported living, was recognised at the Annual Construction Industry Awards Dinner held at the Madjeski Stadium in Reading.
The Vale Housing Association scheme was built by Abingdon-based construction company Leadbitter Construction. Mike Goldsworthy, Project Manager at the site, won an award for Robin Close in the category for schemes with contract values under £500,000. Bob Rendell, Managing Director of Leadbitter Construction said, I think it is a testament to the overall professionalism of our Project Managers along with their attention to quality and delivery that they have been recognised in this way.
The scheme comprises five bungalows for residents with learning difficulties. It was developed after demolishing 16 garages and utilising the land at the end of neighbouring gardens.
The Vale Housing Association and Leadbitter Construction have worked in partnership over a number of new developments. John Martin, Head of Design at The Vale Housing Association, commented, Robin Close is a scheme which has greatly enhanced an area of under-used land. It now provides an opportunity for people who have never had a home of their own before to live independently.
