Procedure for the Incorporation of Water Efficiency Standards into New Developments and Refurbishments (OP13:V8:22/04/08)
Responsibility
- Appropriate Contract Administrators in the Development and Property Services Departments.
Action
- At tender or negotiation stage the appropriate Contract Administrators to include a section entitled "water efficiency standards" (see below) into all contract documentation. This appendix will list water efficient sanitary items for pricing and possible inclusion.
- If affordable within the budget available, the appropriate Contract Administrator will incorporate some or all of the specific items into the final contract documents.
Recording
- The contract documentation will be kept on each site file.
Appendix: Water Efficiency Standards
The following items to be priced for inclusion into the contract should the budget be available for some or all of them. Those most preferable to be included are at the top of the list:-
- An above bath shower unit plumbed into the hot/cold water system with mixer valve. To include fully tiled walls, shower rail and curtain.
- Spray tap heads to all taps
- 6 litre cisterns to be considered for a second w.c. where applicable.
- Plastic water butts plumbed into suitable rainwater down-pipe with over-flow to suitable soakaway.
