Procedure for facilitating access to public and community transport for tenants in sheltered schemes (OP8:V3:10/08/04)

Responsibility

1. Scheme Managers, Specialist Services Manager, Communications & Research Team

Action

1. All new Scheme Managers will be made aware of the ORCC's- (Oxfordshire Rural Community Council) website about community transport schemes. www.a2binfo.net/oxfordshire. All staff will be reminded annually about this.
   
   
2. Scheme Managers will be responsible for letting their residents know which community bus and taxi services are available in their area. They should also pass the information onto any resident committees in charge of organising outings.
   
   
3. Scheme Managers also co-ordinate or arrange the following services:
   
   
   • Nicholson House, Abingdon - private mini-bus runs trip to Tesco
   • Duffield Place, Marcham / Sandleigh Estate, Wootton - Local community bus to Tesco / Millets Farm
   • Field House, Botley - Age Concern bus to Tesco
   • Maude House, Wantage / St John's Court, Grove / Grovelands Court, Grove - Grovelands Shopper Bus to Wantage to collect pensions
   • Oakwood House, Faringdon / Brackendale, Faringdon - Faringdon Community Bus.
